What Is The Best ‘Diet?’
Well, first off - lemme tell you this…
I’m not a Paleo Guy… nor am I a ‘High Carb’ guy, or a ‘High Fat’ guy.
In fact, I don’t prescribe, or recommend, any of the common, and current, ‘Diet Trends/Fads.’
I just have this nutritional philosophy - a set of principles if you will - that works for EVERYONE. And can be tailored to the individual…
Because, I don’t believe one specific diet is right for everyone!
However, if you’ll apply the following nutritional principles - I can say with almost total certainty that’ll you’ll be healthier, and you’ll have more energy!
Here they are…
7 Key ‘Nutritional Principles’ for Health and Energy…
#1: Drink Plenty of Clean Water
"Hydration is Key to High Energy Levels"
Everyone is worried, and arguing about, what to EAT.
But, many people could go WEEKS without food (I’m not suggesting you, I’m just saying some people can, and have).
How about WATER?
Well, 3-4 days and most people will be DEAD.
What you drink is way more important than what you eat. And, for many people - simply starting off by drinking 2 litres of CLEAN WATER a day, can have a very positive effect on their health and energy levels.
I’ll also point out that 2 litres is just ‘a good place to start for an adult.’ You might find, over time, that you need more water, or less.
Finally, lemme define what I mean when I say:
Tap water isn’t clean. Try doing a Google Search for ‘Toxicity in Tap Water’ and you’ll see what I mean!
Plastic bottled water also can’t count as ‘clean water’ because BPA, from the plastic, leaches into the water. Since BPA is a Carcinogen (something that can cause CANCER) - I can’t recommend plastic bottled water.
What’s that leave you with?
Glass bottled Spring Water… clean, and convenient, but expensive.
Spring Water from a natural spring… clean, and as pure as it gets, but requires time (because you have to go find a spring).
Some kind of water filter… can work if you find a good one (or a good filtration process). But, most water filters are expensive, and don’t work too well.
It’s your choice.
Personally - I just do Glass Bottled Spring Water. And, for me - about 2 litres a day is perfect.
#2: Eat Only When You Are Hungry
Another thing to consider before we talk about WHAT to EAT… is WHEN to eat.
I mean, these days, for many folks - eating has become a HOBBY! And, people wonder why OBESITY rates, and all the associated disease rates, are going through the roof!
So, the health (and indeed ‘energy’) principle here is to only eat when you are HUNGRY.
And, avoid eating through ‘boredom.’
#3: Chew Your Food Thoroughly
Once you’ve committed to only eating when you are hungry - the next principle to consider relates to HOW you eat.
The best way to eat is relatively slowly, chewing your food exceptionally well.
Aim to turn it to LIQUID in your mouth, before you swallow it.
And, if you do Juices, and Smoothies, chew those too! Seriously - it all helps digestion. And, the better you digest your food - the healthier you’ll be, and the more energy you’ll tend to have.
By the way…
This is one of the hardest principles for me to stick to… because I’m a naturally FAST eater. So, I really have to make a conscious effort to SLOW-the-f**k-down, and chew my food thoroughly.
#4: Stop Eating When You Are No Longer Hungry
Here’s another Health and Energy Principle that’s so simple and EASY, you could be forgiven for thinking it’s not important!
But, it’s REALLY important.
You see, even if you eat great foods - if you continuously OVEREAT, you’ll likely be overweight. And, if you’re overweight - you can’t have optimal health, and your energy levels won’t be as good as they could be.
So, once you start eating, chew your food thoroughly, and keep in mind that Science has proven that it can take about 20 minutes for your brain to register that you are no longer hungry!
Once you tune into the fact that you are no longer hungry - STOP eating… and go do something else…
Like that crossword you haven’t finish…
Those emails you need to answer…
Or, I dunno - go make your wife happy in the bedroom! ;)
Just stop fucking eating!
#5: Eat Only Natural, Unprocessed Foods
"Eat Natural Foods and Ditch The Junk if You Want High Energy!"
If you drink plenty of clean water…
If you eat only when you’re hungry…
If you chew your food well…
And, if you stop eating when you’re no longer hungry…
You are ahead of 90% of people out there. And, it’s a great start.
But, if you really wanna take your health and energy levels to a higher plane - and get ahead of 99% of people out there - you gotta commit to eating natural, unprocessed foods.
Basically, eat from these food groups:
- Meat, fish, poultry
- Raw Dairy
- Fermented Foods
- Fruit and Veg
- Healthy Fats (coconut oil, avocado, nut oils etc)
- Healthy Carbs (root veggies, rice, quinoa etc)
Apply the first 4 Principles - then eat from those food groups above… while also cutting out all the PROCESSED food that’s rich in white, refined sugar, and Trans Fats - and you can really start to feel like 64 Million Bucks ;)
#6: Eat Wild and Organic Foods Wherever Possible
Unfortunately, these days an Apple ain’t just an Apple.
And, a piece of Steak ain’t just a piece of Steak.
FACT: If you eat cheap, mass produced foods - you will ingest a ton of poison. Particularly if you eat cheap, mass produced meat, poultry, fish and dairy.
You see, cheap meat, poultry, fish and dairy contains anti-biotics, steroids, growth hormone and more. You really wanna eat that?
Best option would be to hunt your own meat out in the wild, and keep your own cow, goat or sheep, for dairy.
But, I’m not gonna do that. And, I bet you’re probably not either (though, if you are - GREAT).
So, the next best option is to buy the best quality you can…
- Organic, Grass-Fed Beef.
- Organic, Free-Range Chicken.
- Wild Alaskan Salmon.
- Raw, Organic Dairy.
You getting this?
WHAT you eat matters. But the QUALITY of what you eat makes a big difference too.
